wow…

I received a package from my Dad yesterday. He had warned me about it before sending it.

My Grandma Shaw’s family (from my Dad’s side) came from polygamy. I believe that it stopped with her Grandfather, Orson Brown. My Grandma doesn’t get along with many of her family members. They find this man to be a hero. Had five wives, many, many children, then ditched them to go to Mexico to start all over again. Yeah…some hero! My Grandma had a very hard upbringing, when through many tough situations that no child should have. The woman needs to write a book. It truly feel sorry for all of the children and adults that are stuck in this situation in todays world. It really is heartbreaking to me.

Anyway…her brothers/sisters/cousins are very proud of their heritage and made this ‘wonderful’ dvd. Why? I don’t know, but when you look at this picture and read the title I do hope you laugh as hard as I did. I have yet to watch the dvd but my Grandma says that it is quite amusing. No where near realistic. She said I would get a real kick out of it. Ha!

Hope I don’t offend any polygemists out there. I wouldn’t think you would be reading my blog, and oh, by the way, I love the show Big Love, and yes, to those of you who are wondering I am from Utah and no I am not mormon.

I hope you all enjoy your Sunday. I have been working all hours everyday this week so I’m going to take the rest of the day to play with the kiddos and read my book, ‘The Friday Night Knitting Club’.

Aww..

I’ve been working on putting my Christmas card templates to show to my clients when I came across these two forgotten images. I had my camera mounted on a tripod for the first.  I have a different pic on my webiste. Completely forgot about these.

do you like my blog?

If you do, I highly recommend getting the ProPhoto theme for wordpress. You can customize it any way that suits your fancy. Jared, the owner of ProPhoto has the best tutorials that even a web dummy like myself can customize my own blog. Love it!! You can display large photos, change all colors, fonts, flash header if you want, and it’s very easy for people to comment. Some blogs are just a pain to comment to.

Best thing…wordpress is FREE!! Upload it to your website and it will really help rank you higher with the search engines. Does uploading your blog to your site sound hard? No worries, the tutorials will guide you through it in no time. You can even transfer all of your old blog posts to your new wordpress blog.  With all of the crap that I’ve had to buy for my website this year, this is by far the best buy.

I know this sounds like a serious advertisement but it isn’t. I just want to simplify your life!

Enjoy your day and thanks again to all that entered the contests last night. I will be doing more soon. I had a lot of fun.

Yep, have to upload at least one photo per post. It’s a must.  How’s this for a good laugh?

Winners!

I am now ready to announce the winners. I’ve had a lot of fun and laughs tonight.

Joke winner: Shannon Palmiotto

You are on a photo shoot in New Orleans covering Hurricane Gustav, ten foot waves are crashing down, and suddenly you notice President Bush getting out of a car to visit the scene of destruction.

Just as you are getting ready to take a shot, a huge wave washes him and his staff into the terrible waters - only you are left on land.

You can either save the President by throwing him a rope, or take a unique shot of him drowning.

It is a terrible dilema, you only have a second to decide:

Do you use wide angle, or telephoto to zoom in?

Poem winner: Lesley Stonecipher

Jessica Hughes is one cool chick

And her new website is really, really slick.

Her photos are amazing; I think that you’ll agree,

There’s no one in the biz quite as talented as she.

From beauty queens to babies, from brides to kids in jeans,

She captures every magical moment and heart-warming scene

Ice cream winner: thepalmeiottos I didn’t see any first names.

Just to add to my dorkiness…

When I say 10 pm I mean 10 pm central time. But you all should know that since you are mind readers.

It’s good to know there are other dorks out there.

Congratulations to Jenna Baily from Piperdellan photography. She has won a free set of actions.

She also sent me this email which I found quite funny. She also let me know that she ran my free funky action found on ILP.

“okay, i am far dorkier than you as i happened to notice your post as i am supposed to be cooking dinner and made my starving family wait while i took and even dorkier picture.Yeah, I know its a stretch but I had no time to run to market and well, it is a pineapple, kinda, sorta…..well, I tried anyhow…..

then i laughed as i viewed the images because well, it looks a bit, hmmmmmm…..naughty….but maybe thats just me, lol. then i got another laugh as i ran my resize action that watermarked it. i thought golly….who’d want to steal that scrap of fruit…..ha!

OOPS!! Forgot that I was taking poems until 10:00, no biggie, we’ll start again but Renee will still get some instructions since I am a dork. :)

HA!! I may have to print this one out and frame it!! Fits my family well!!

This fine poem was written by Rene Mason (Rene, if you have a website send it to me and I’ll link it here)

Being a DORK isnʼt such a bad thing

The endearing term could be fit for a king.

The Hughes Family knows very well

That their mom is a dork and is proud as ****!

So it’s true…I am a dork!

Here’s the evidence!

Desiree from Backwoods Photography said so, so it’s final!! Desiree won a free set of actions which I will be sending to her shortly.
